Bundles
In this video, we provide an overview of how Pentagon Connect bundles are structured and managed. We explain the distinction between products and bundles, review bundle configuration settings, and outline the debundling logic, along with other key concepts. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with these features, as they are designed to help streamline and improve our processes.
What a bundle is
A bundle is a virtual product that exists only inside Pentagon Connect — it never needs to exist in your warehouse management system, ERP, or any connector. Every product has an Is Bundle flag marking whether it's a bundle. A bundle product is made up of one or more bundle components underneath it: a bundle can have a single component at a higher quantity, or several different components each with their own quantity, with no limit on the combination. For example, a bundle could be set up as component 1 at quantity 2 plus component 2 at quantity 1 — meaning a buyer who purchases that bundle receives three individual items in total.
Since the bundle only exists in Pentagon Connect, it's the bundle itself that gets listed on the marketplace and that the buyer actually purchases — not the individual components directly.
Stock and pricing
Pentagon Connect automatically tracks whether there's enough stock across all of a bundle's components to fulfil it, and uses the component stock and pricing to calculate the bundle's availability and price. If any single component runs out of stock, the whole bundle is automatically set as out of stock.
Components are physical products that exist in your warehouse and can also be listed and sold individually on marketplaces in their own right. The bundle price is built up from the component prices, with two ways to adjust it:
- Apply a discount percentage to an individual component's price within the bundle (for example, reduce component 1's price by 10% while leaving component 2 at full price)
- Import a custom fixed price for the bundle as a whole, instead of relying on the calculated component total
How bundle orders work
Once a bundle sells — for example, on TikTok — the order shows both the bundle and its components, with an indicator on each product line showing whether it's the bundle or one of its components. Pentagon Connect automatically adds the relevant components onto the order underneath the bundle, based on how that bundle is configured.
When forwarding the order on to your own systems (warehouse, ERP, etc.), you have full flexibility over what gets exported:
- Components only — useful since the components are the products that physically exist in your warehouse, not the bundle itself
- Both bundle and components
- Bundle only
This gives full visibility into which product is the bundle, exactly what it's made up of, and how it should flow into your downstream systems. Pricing is kept consistent throughout: component prices roll up to form the bundle's price, and the bundle's line item price on the order matches the order total.
