Products & Listings Structure

In this video, we will walk you through the Pentagon Connectduct section and structure on our platform. We explain the difference between products, which contain general information like SKU and images, and listings, which are specific to each marketplace, such as eBay or Amazon. We highlight features like bulk editing, inline editing, and the ability to manage listings through triggers for updates. We also touch on the variation group that allows us to combine products effectively. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with these features as they will help streamline our processes.

Products vs. listings

A product holds the general information that stays the same regardless of which marketplace it's sold on — SKU, barcode, EAN, condition, dimensions, and images. A listing holds the marketplace-specific information for one channel — for an eBay listing, for example, that's the eBay title, eBay category, eBay description, eBay attributes, eBay price, and eBay quantity. Keeping these separate avoids duplicating the same product data across channels and keeps that shared information consistent everywhere it's sold.

Product section

The Products screen shows a multi-record view of every product. From here you can select records for bulk edit and bulk export directly, or use inline editing to change values without opening a record. Each row also has Edit and View actions.

Opening a product shows its single-record view, made up of:

  • Title — for internal use only; this is never sent to a marketplace
  • SKU, condition, images, brand, and all barcodes held for the product
  • Video URLs, if any
  • Product dimensions
  • Bundle settings — covered separately on the Bundles page
  • Its listings — one product can have many listings. A single SKU might currently be selling on both eBay and Amazon, each with its own price, quantity, and title, and each identified by its own Channel Item ID — the unique identifier assigned by that marketplace. Listings can be edited inline from here, or opened in their own single-record view.

Listings section

The Listings screen mirrors the Products screen — a multi-record view with the same bulk edit, bulk export, edit, and view actions, but scoped to individual marketplace listings rather than products.

Opening a listing shows its single-record view, made up of:

  • The title actually sent to that marketplace, and the Channel Item ID assigned by it
  • A direct link to the live listing on the marketplace, once published
  • The channel (and seller) the listing is selling under
  • Quantity and price
  • Internal statuses — whether the listing is active or inactive, and whether it's published or still awaiting creation
  • Category, description, item specifics, and variation specifics

Each listing also has three triggers — Update Quantity, Update Price, and List/Update Whole Item. Setting any of these to a pending status queues that specific action (a stock update, a price update, or a full listing update) to be sent to the marketplace.

Variation groups

A listing's variation group groups several individual listings together into one variation product. Adding the item and variation attribute columns via the column chooser shows exactly how the group varies — for example, a variation group of three listings that differ by colour (black, red, white) while sharing the same standard item attributes.

Products & Listings combined view

The Products & Listings screen is a custom view that combines both product and listing data in one place, with advanced search: filters can be applied on any field with a range of comparisons, and multiple conditions can be combined. For example, filtering by channel = Amazon surfaces every SKU currently selling on Amazon, along with each one's active/inactive and published status.
